CAAT Academic Negotiations Bulletin #3: Negotiations are under way

On July 4, the OPSEU college faculty bargaining team sat down with the management team to kick off the 2017 round of negotiations.

“College faculty face a challenge this round, but the support of members will get us the change we need,” said union bargaining team chair JP Hornick.

CAAT Academic Negotiations Bulletin #2: United for what we all need

The message came across loud and clear: Ontario’s colleges need significant changes, for the sake of both the faculty who work in them and the students who rely on the education they provide.

Gathering from across the province, delegates from Ontario’s 24 public colleges came together on March 4 and 5 to discuss and debate the demands sent in by locals and to prioritize the issues the bargaining team will take to the negotiating table later this year.

At October’s pre-bargaining conference, delegates elected the bargaining team to take us through this round. Inside this bulletin you’ll find a short bio from each member, including our alternates, to help you get to know the people who will be representing you at the table.

We have an important challenge in front of us. As we’ve seen in recent years, the government’s continued underfunding of public colleges is pushing colleges into questionable ventures, with negative consequences for the quality of students’ education.
