FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: OPSEU Local 110 files group grievance over lack of masking at Fanshawe College

London ON, September 23, 2022 – OPSEU Local 110 submits group grievance against Fanshawe College for failing to provide a safe work environment by removing masking requirements for indoor activities on campus.
The Fanshawe College Faculty Union, OPSEU Local 110, has filed a group grievance calling on Fanshawe to require masking in indoor spaces at the college. Fanshawe’s abandonment of indoor masking, social distancing, and many other preventative measures, has created an unsafe work environment.
Local 110 has heard from numerous members concerned for their own health and safety and for the health and safety of family members.
Local 110 President Mark Feltham says, ”Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, employers must take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances to ensure a healthy and safe workplace. We are asking Fanshawe to follow its obligations under the law.”
