Resources for Faculty Union Stewards
OPSEU Local 110 allows for 1 union steward for every 15 faculty within an academic area. Beginning with the 2020 term, there will also be up to 6 stewards-at-large.
When should a member request the presence of a union steward? Many unions recommend to their members that they keep the following phrase in mind and use it when the time comes: “If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative be present.”
